Volunteers Needed

Thank you for taking the time to visit our site and for your interest in volunteering!

Pediatric brain tumors kill more children in this country than any other disease. The Ride for Kids® raises money for biomedical research to find a cure.

The Baltimore/Washington Ride for Kids® Task Force is looking for volunteers to help make our ride a huge success. Last year we raised $248,000.00 and need your help to top that figure.

Volunteers are needed in many different areas to help us handle the 300-500 motorcyclists who attend the Baltimore/Washington Ride for Kids®. YOU DON’T NEED to be a motorcyclist to Volunteer!!!

Pre-event set-up / Post-event tear down-clean up – Assist with setting up the site before the event and or help with clean up following the event.

Parking / Traffic control - Assist with directing traffic to and from the event, maintaining a safe environment for our riders as well as guests on site. Training is required for those interested in these positions.

Registration – Offers a number of positions, and all of these jobs require mandatory training.

  • AMA Greeters – The first contact the riders have with our event. These people assist in getting participants to sign the required AMA Waiver forms and issue site wrist bands and help with completing the Ride registration forms

  • Ride Registration Teams  – Consist of two people, one to process registration forms, the other to collect and account for the funds being donated (Anyone on a registration team must be 21)

  • Team Captains – A Team Captain is assigned to a group of Registration teams to help control the flow of funds being collected

  • Dealer / Club Registration  – Participants can register with their favorite dealer and club/chapter and give them credit for the funds donated

  • Premiums – This team process and distributes various Premiums earned by Riders for the funds donated
Again all of these positions require mandatory training. We offer two training sessions, to help accommodate both our Maryland and Virginia volunteers. Exact times will be provided in the months prior to the event. Parking/Traffic control, can be offered during one of these sessions as well, just have to let us know so we will be prepared. For those who cannot make either training session, a special session will be held ON-SITE to review job assignments and general knowledge of what to expect the following morning.

The Ride for Kids® is an exciting event and a very well organized activity. We are AMA sanctioned and we have a police presence from start to finish. We hope you will be able to help with this very worthy charity event as we can’t possibly make it successful without our dedicated volunteers.

Also, if you won a side car and would like to donate that sit to one of our Stars, or family member, please indicate that on the form as well and contact our VIP coordinator.

Pediatric brain tumors kill more children in this country than any other disease. Fifty years ago, the leading killer of children was polio. Medical research found a vaccine and a cure. Twenty years ago, the leading killer of children was leukemia (less than 4% survived). Medical research funded largely by Danny Thomas and the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital found a cure (today about 84% survive). You can help us find a cure for pediatric brain tumors.

Thank you so much in advance for your help in the past and your help in the future. We look forward to hearing from you.
